What We Fund

The Parkinson Council provides financial grants to Greater Philadelphia-based entities dedicated to:

  • Promoting research into the causes of and cure for Parkinson’s disease and quality of life issues
  • Educating people with Parkinson’s, care-partners, health professionals and the general public about Parkinson’s Disease
  • Improving the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s and their care-partners

The Council provides financial grants in the following areas:

  • Research initiatives that may lead to improved quality of life, improve symptomatic relief from the effects of Parkinson’s Disease, and that could potentially help identify the cause or cure for Parkinson’s Disease
  • Activities that bring awareness of Parkinson’s disease to the medical, general, and underserved communities through advocacy and education
  • Support for emotional and physical needs that have the potential to improve symptoms and enhance quality of life for the person and care-partner
  • Support groups for patients and care-partners

In determining grant awards, whether for quality-of-life, clinical, or research programs, additional consideration will be given to submissions that demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as innovation with respect to creating access to care and treatment for individuals living with Parkinson’s.

Improving the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s and increasing the number of lives touched continue to be at the center of our mission. We hope the funds allocated offer the ability to be innovative, creative, and nimble in implementing programming in the coming year.
