SUMMARY:Accessible Workshops Program for People with Parkinson's and their Care-Partners
DESCRIPTION:Memory and Photography\nWe have all had the experience of looking back at old photos to remember events\, meaningful places\, or objects in our lives. In this workshop we will use photography with the clear intention of making a new memory. \n\nFirst\, participants will tour the special exhibition “Photography and Memory”. Many of the pictures displayed in this installation highlight significant monuments\, memorials\, and landscapes. Some focus on the senses\, especially touch and sound. And others connect recollection and imagination. Documentary works jostle alongside wildly experimental ones\, and historical images hang next to contemporary counterparts. Viewing these selections offers us a moment to reflect on the nature of memory and its importance to photographers and artists throughout history. \nIn the galleries\, participants will photograph objects that may already hold a memory for us or find new art works to form a memory around. Participants are encouraged to include themselves or some indication of who they are in the photos. \nIn the studio\, participants will print our photos\, hand color them if we choose to\, and then combine and collage them to form a new memory. \nClick here to register. \nThese workshops are made possible by a grant from The Parkinson Council and The Susan O. Jaffe Quality of life Initiative.
