Theresa Conroy, earned her Certification by graduating from two accredited Yoga Therapy Schools and meeting specific criteria for education and experience set by the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Only those who meet those standards may call themselves a Certified Yoga Therapist, or C-IAYT.
Theresa uses postures, breathing practices, flowing movement and relaxation techniques to address the specific and wide-ranging symptoms of this neurological disease. The pace of this yoga therapy class is matched to the needs and abilities of participants, who learn how to improve balance, avoid falls and injury, release stiff muscles, develop core strength and reduce anxiety and depression.
This class is supported by a grant from The Parkinson Council.

The Stay Fit Program is for those individuals who desire to exercise and keep active, but cannot go to a regular gym or Y.M.C.A. because of slowness, stiffness, balance or safety issues. Participants exercise in a group under the direction of physical therapist students, directly supervised by 2 physical therapists with experience in the treatment of individuals with neurologic disease. Most levels of disability of persons with either Parkinson disease or multiple sclerosis can be accommodated.

Research has shown that regular exercise can slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease, as well as improve your overall level of fitness and sense of well-being.
Join Jefferson Health’s weekly exercise group at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital on Wednesdays, 1pm to 2pm at the Edison Building, 130 South 9th Street, Room 1301.
Ongoing groups will continue Fridays, 1pm to 2pm at Jefferson Methodist Hospital, 2301 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, 19148, First Floor Rehab Gym.
Group members participate in seated aerobic exercises as well as balance and strengthening activities in a supportive setting, led by a physical therapist. (Click here for a flyer!).
