At Penn, scientists are doing breakthrough research. At the Y, PD patients are doing the rumba. This is why we get up in the morning.
Welcome to the movement
At Penn, scientists are doing groundbreaking research. At the Y, people with PD are hip-hop dancing. This is why we get up in the morning.
The Parkinson Council is dedicated to helping our neighbors affected by Parkinson’s. Yes, we’re local, and proud of it. We fund research, education and programs at world-renowned institutions here in Greater Philadelphia. This laser, local focus helps impact many lives. And makes us a little different from bigger, equally worthy national organizations. If you live with PD, or care for someone who does, we can help you find community, inspiration, and hope. Right here, where you live.
Our mission is to provide financial support to local nonprofits and institutions dedicated to improving the quality of life for Parkinson’s disease patients, their families and caregivers. Compassionate dedication is the core value we live by. And our vision is a world without Parkinson’s disease. Won’t that be wonderful.
Our mission is to raise funds and provide financial grants to Philadelphia and Delaware Valley-based entities in these areas:
- Research initiatives at local hospitals and universities
- Advocacy and education that increases awareness of PD in medical, general and underserved communities, and the healthcare providers who serve them
- Support for the emotional and physical needs for people with PD and their caretakers
- Support groups for people with PD and care-partners
The Parkinson Council is provided $400,000 in funding to local organizations in 2016.
